WHAT IS YOUR INTAKE PROCESS?

A confidential email will be sent to you after your Initial Consultation so you can complete the HIPPA compliant Intake paperwork prior to our first treatment session. If you are coming in as a couple, your partner will need to fill out Intake paperwork as well. You will have an opportunity to review and sign off on business policies and procedures, as well as the Informed Consent & Confidentiality Agreement. Credit card payments are taken at the end of each session via secure Square with the receipt for you to file with your  insurance company for reimbursement.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I/WE COME FOR SESSIONS?

The counseling process varies. Some feel better after only a few sessions. Others need more time and support before meaningful change is felt. Either way, the goal of spacing-out sessions and ultimate Graduation! with tune-ups only as needed is the plan. I am very transparent about checking in to make sure you feel that our work is on track with the goals we have established, and move on to your happy life ASAP!

WHY SHOULDN’T I JUST TAKE MEDICATION?

Medication can be effective and helpful. However, it’s not the permanent deep change also needed to heal the confusion and wounds that you do not need to carry with you for the rest of your life. Our work together will explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing. We will identify the “thorn-in-your-foot” so to speak. Expand upon what’s working. Teach new psycho-educational tools for what’s not. And tie it all together to achieve permanent positive change for a happier life.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

The standard session time for individuals, families, and couples is 45 minutes. I often recommend an extended 90 min double session with couples however, as longer more concentrated time together produces quicker change and relief. Change and relief often ultimately match up with the same overall investment spent with (yes more per session) but a faster time to recovery.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I do my best to be understanding of emergencies that may arise (sickness of self or child, rare work emergency, etc.), and do not charge in these cases. However in the absence of the above sessions cancelled or missed within 24 of your appointment time will be charged in full.

NOTE: I follow the FCPS District cancellation policy regarding inclement weather. Please check as the office may still be open as I have 4-wheel drive and so if you can make it and still want to come in, please let me know.
